Hi, I'm from Newcastle Upon Tyne, on the North-East of the UK. We're known collectively as Geordies.
In case you're wondering just where Newcastle is, I've put up a link so you can get a feel for the place yourself. We're very proud of our county, Northumberland. It's a place steeped in history both eclesiastical and military. It's shores and borders are bedecked with imposing castles, pele houses and fortified houses. It's landscape is both rugged and romantic. It's a great place to be.
On a more down to Earth note there are also links to the many charities I support. ALL are animal charities, MOST can get laws changed, EVERYONE can make a difference. If you love animals check these out but BEWARE some of the content on some sites can wrench the tears from your body. I was one of those people who would sign any petition or give my last penny but wouldn't look at the literature. Why? Because I couldn't stand the site of some of the images. Then, I thought, if they have to go throught it, why should I be so ikky about looking at it. Hold on a minute, who's suffering most here? Don't I have a duty to see what's going on? To tell others about it? To try to stop it? Take a look and see what you think. Then decide.
The links to the vegetarian sites will answer any questions you may have. I was veggie for a year and these sites kept me going. They offer good, sound advice for those times when we all wonder is it worth it? Yes, it is. If you want to go all the way, the links to the vegan sites will show you just how easy it is to become dairy-free. Dump the dairy, live a life. Of course, animals issues also deal with conservation. I'm a supporter of a female wolf, Lunca, from the UK Wolf Conservation Trust, the only time I recommend getting an animal for a pressie!
I've recently become an active campaigner for CAP, Campaigning for animals since 1957. Their aim is to use legal means to end the use of performing animals in entertainment and on behalf of wild animals in captivity in zoos, circuses and the exotic pet trade.
